The Crest Hardware Art Show 2013
This past Saturday we attended the annual Crest Hardware Art Show in Williamsburg. This was my first time participating in the show. I missed last year’s deadline by a few days, and I was sorry I did. This is a fantastic gem of a show for so many reasons. You can read the history behind the show here on their site, but a basic synopsis displays works of art that have to do with hardware. Some are with in objective literal meaning while others are with in context, there is a great display of both. The works are placed directly into the stores shelves and displays with their actual products for sale. This creates a great contrast between what is art and what is actual hardware. I love the idea. It places the viewer into a trance of seeking and searching. You will find yourself constantly surprised. I submitted a series of cast plaster and cement aerosol spray paint cans. Hardware stores sell an abundance of spray paint for multi-purposes. I thought these would be a nice addition. Dont miss out on the show, it runs through late August 2013. Crest Hardware is located on Metropolitan Ave in Williamburg, Brooklyn.
