Drawing Connections: Spirituality, Creativity, Imagination, and your Expressive Potential.
Are aspects of spirituality, creativity, imagination, and your creative potential inter-related?ย Could this be an activating, action taking formula that you have been waiting for?
First things first, let’s get clear on spirituality and define it, what is spirituality?
Spirituality is NOT just an association with any one type of religion orย philosophy. One must understand this. Spirituality manifests itselfย through many variations of life. Spirituality is an understanding thatย life expands from a certain inwardness. Upon the awareness of thisย inwardness, one knows there exists something from which we cameย and will one day return to. This understanding makes our heart beat,ย it makes winter change effortlessly into spring. It is far move evolvedย than the limitations of our five physical senses. Spirituality is aย personal relationship with one’s self in relationship to its perceivedย creator. Spirituality is an ongoing journey and learning experienceย from the inside out.
What is Creativity?
Creativity is the action and ability to give tangible form to an idea,ย impulse or intuition. It can be a brand new idea, or it can be anย extension of something that already exists. Creativity can change theย context of something in a new and innovating way. Pleaseย understand that all creativity begins inside of us. It starts out as allย things do, as an energy, a thought, it starts out as a non physicalย thing. This non physical energy is spiritual. It comes to us from theย infinite source of supply. Some call this God, some call it the divine,ย some call it the universe, some simply call it universal omnipotence.
Creativityโs desire is your desire and need of physical expression.
Creativity can be expressed infinitely, it should not be limited to anyย one discipline of expression.
What is the Imagination?
The Imagination is oneโs ability to perceive, intuitively sense, formย ideas, create mental images and sensations of potential things and orย events. These experiences could be directly related to ones own lifeย and or the lives of others. The imagination is infinite, it is theย storehouse of all potential perceptions that can become reality.ย Everything tangible begins in one’s imagination.
What is our Creative Human Potential?
It is the certainty and capacity for one’s creative and imaginativeย intentions coming into physical being. There is an inner likeliness ofย the expected mental image and feeling associated to it to becomeย and be. It is my pleasure and goal to take concepts of creativity,ย imagination, spirituality and the overall human potential, to makeย them accessible and understandably applicable for everyone. Theseย concepts play a role in the shaping of our reality as we know it. Ourย thoughts affect our bodies just as they affect our physical world.
So, how are you currently creating your experiences?
Spiritual Awareness + Imagination = Creativity.
Creativity is the Desire of Self Expression.
Self Expression + Your Creative Potential = An Innovative Injunction (The experience and all of the content involved to make it happen.)
I am asking you to consider this above by applying your individual interpretation of these terms for growth. By researching more information on your own,ย you will be led to find the content that you resonate with. We are hereย to co-create our physical reality, this makes us responsible forย creating the manuals for our own lives.
this is excellent!! written in such a way that just makes perfect sense, and makes me feel good!! gives so much credit to the artist’s mind, brain power, and motivation to act on what inspires us to create. If you are able to connect with yourself/believe in yourself+your art and produce art from perceptions into something tangible- that is a true talent! Respect!
This makes perfect sense in my world. I wonder if this would make sense to someone who is not spiritual or creative. I am under assumption that most creative people are spiritual but not all spiritual people are creative. I think it would be a really captivating theme for a work shop. It would be a great way to increase spirituality and or creativity or just the balance of both in artists. Great point to bring up and out in all of us! I also like your term manual for our lives I am working on mine everyday.
Absolutely! For me, my spirituality, creativity, imagination, and my creative potential are completely interrelated. I think that spirituality in particular can be very important to counter that tendency artists have toward isolation. Something that just may not be healthy for all of us as individuals. Yet we still need to provide ourselves with that space to be alone and grow. It is significant to be able to know and love yourself, to find that space where you can be grateful for your talents and your ability to share them with others. It all feeds the drive to exercise the imagination and be creative! When what can be a delicate balancing act is in unisonโฆ yes it is the moment you have been waiting for. Seize it! Great read Ryan:)
All of these components are intertwined and connected in a very internal process. I do believe an artist needs to access the spiritual, creative and imaginative forces to be able to express an idea. They are all such personal, reflective and meditative forces that it is hard to imagine being an artist and not relying on all of the above to feed the soul and mind. For me to be in a creative place. I also need to feel a spiritual connection. When I’m more meditative while I’m painting, I feel more in the moment. I’m sure most artists would agree with you, Ryan, on how interrelated these qualities are and how integral for art-making. Thanks for that insightful article.
