Description:

Sculpture 817 is a figure of emergence. It captures the spirit of form moving beyond the physical—balancing weight and weightlessness, tension and expansion. Created during a year of conscious acceleration, the sculpture embodies a moment of becoming: solid yet fluid, strong yet ethereal. Built from durable foam core and sealed with archival adhesives, every plane, curve, and negative space is a deliberate conversation between presence and potential. There is no narrative imposed here—only an invitation:
Stand before it, and meet yourself in new dimensions. This work is a standalone portal — a signal piece — anchoring the body’s language into a timeless form.

Sculpture 817 holds a distinct place in Ryan Seslow’s body of work.
It is the very first sculptural portal created in the current series — a pivotal piece that ignited an entire new dimension of practice, exploration, and invitation.

Importantly, Sculpture 817 served as a catalyst for Ryan’s commissioned sculptural series for Starbucks’ Global Headquarters in Seattle, WA. Its presence and energy directly contributed to securing that landmark project — bridging the personal creative journey with public, large-scale recognition. This sculpture is not just an object — it is a beginning. An artifact of momentum. A Genesis. A living testament to the unseen architectures that shape opportunity, connection, and expansion across time.
