Consciousness-Influenced Kinetics: An Artistic Exploration of Telekinesis

I’ve always been fascinated by how we define artistic mediums. Over the many many years of my art practice, I’ve experimented with everything—drawing, painting, digital tools, sculpture, animation, GIFs… you name it. But what if an artistic medium didn’t require any physical contact at all?

That’s the question I’ve been asking myself for years. Since the early 2000s, I’ve been quietly experimenting with something I call Consciousness-Influenced Kinetics—the idea that focused thought and energy can move objects. Yes, you could call it telekinesis, but instead of diving into the paranormal rabbit hole, I approach it the same way I do any creative practice: with curiosity, repetition, and documentation.

In 2007, I began recording a series of videos where I used nothing but focused intention to move a small object. At the time, I wasn’t thinking about where this fit into my larger body of work—I was just experimenting, like I always do. Fast-forward to now, and I see the connection clear as day. The work I do—across all mediums—has always been about perception, energy, and the unseen forces that shape our human experience.

Is this video art? Performance art? Installation art or an experimental hybrid fragment of Internet art based on its original publishing into a web browser? I still to this ponder these questions.

Here’s a look at one of my first recorded experiments from 2007:

PS – I also minted this historical piece on superrare.com today 3/2/25

The original video was posted to my profile on dailymotion.com on 12/13/2007 – the original video is still there with the historical time stamp of the date: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3r5qc – Im certain that dailymotion will not last much longer, and minting this rare piece of contemporary art to suprerrare was now so timely and important. It was time.

A series of animated GIFs were created from video captures from some of the experiments between 2007 and 2012 and published to my Giphy.com profile around 2014:

This piece above shows the movement of the TK wheel spinning with a glass cake cover over it. The wheel continues spinning.. the original video is in my private collection and will also become available soon.

So why share this now?

Because I see this practice as another extension of art itself. Just like my brush leaves marks on the canvas’s that. I paint, consciousness leaves an imprint on reality—and the deeper I go into this, the more I realize how everything is connected. From my digital art to my paintings, my GIFs, my work with AREMES—it’s all part of the same ongoing investigation into how we shape the world around us.

I’ll be sharing more experiments soon. In the meantime, let’s open up this conversation:

What if art wasn’t just something you create—but something you directly interact with on a whole new level?

This Piece of Crypto Art / NFT marks the first-ever telekinesis-based conceptual art piece to be minted on-chain, bridging the gap between mind, matter, and digital permanence. By collecting this work, you become part of the experiment, proving that reality is malleable, programmable, and interactive.

You can acquire and or view the piece on superrare.com/ryanseslow
