Keeper of Crossroads: A Rediscovered Artwork Bridging Past, Present, and Future
Every so often, an artwork finds a way to call itself back into your life.
Recently, while traveling and reflecting on this new chapter of growth, I stumbled across an image from my archive, a digital illustration I originally created around 2013. I had almost forgotten about it, but somehow, it kept resurfacing, almost demanding my attention. This morning, it finally clicked.
The piece started out as a physical cut paper collage (Ill try to find that soon..). Bold shapes, raw energy, no rules, just intuition, forms and color. After scanning or photographing the original collage, I spent hours playing with it digitally. I pushed the image through a series of intentional “degenerations” in Photoshop, lowering the resolution, allowing artifacting, and pushing it into that gritty world I loved so much, the feeling of vintage offset lithography, the kind you find in old comic books, magazines, and mass-printed visuals from the 1960s through the 1980s. The kind of thing you feel before you even know why.
At the time, I was just following my curiosity. I didn’t realize I was making something that would turn out to be a visual prophecy.. (ok, thats over-dramatic..)
Now, more than a decade later, I see this piece differently. It’s a symbol. A portal. It captures everything I stand for now. Merging the physical and the digital. Honoring the past while creating something entirely new. Turning imperfection into an energetic signature.
This piece, which I’m calling “Keeper of Crossroads,” represents a fusion of timelines, mediums, and identities. It’s an anchor between worlds, the analog and the digital, the remembered and the reimagined, the crafted and the spontaneous. And it couldn’t have re-emerged at a better time, just as I’m stepping into larger stages, international commissions, and a whole new era of storytelling.
I’m officially archiving this work today. It deserves its place among my core body of work. Sometimes the future sends messages to the past, and sometimes the past sends that energy to the present. Im wide awake.
And here we are.
